The Story of Scratch Golf

Scratch Golf had the
same decision many golf companies face, should they spend money on advertising
and paying Tour Players to use their product or spare no expense and use the
money to make their clubs the best. They decided on high quality clubs.
Their raw
forgings cost up to 20 times more than their competitors finished heads. They
are made from the softest and most responsive steel in golf. Scratch makes
irons and wedges with grinds designed to fit a specific player, not designed for
Joe Average.
Scratch
Golf started in 2003 making hand made custom wedges and irons. Over time they
realized 5 grinds were used for over 75% of the clubs they made. They also
identified 3 common swing types which one of these 5 grinds would match up
with. In 2007 they introduced the JLM Grind line of wedges which consists of
these 5 grinds. Customers could now enjoy the best wedges in the game at a lower
price and readily available. They continue to offer custom wedges for those in
need of one designed to their specific needs.
When designing the JLM wedges they were careful to make grind and loft
combinations allowing the player to hit all the shots that specific wedge
was designed for. The EGG grind, for example, is designed for a versatile lob
wedge where the club face can be opened for shots around the green. This is
something very common for a 60* wedge but not useful in a 53* wedge. Therefore
the EGG grind is offered only in 60*.
The SND
and SFU grinds are designed for the “Digger/Driver” (golfers with a steep angle
of attack who drive through the ball and take medium to large divots. Their mis-hits
tend to be fat). The SND grind has no heel or toe relief and is best suited for
full shots or those around the green with the club face square. The SFU has an
aggressive heel and toe relief designed for versatility and opening the face of
the wedge around the green. Because of the differences between these 2 grinds
the SND is offered in the 53* and 56* and the SFU is offered in lofts of 58* and
60*.

have been unable to find that right wedge, perhaps Golf Scratch has your answer.
